🏆 Revenge Game for the Dragons

New Palestine came into this game with 14 straight wins, but this one carried extra weight: They were avenging a 43–42 loss to Decatur Central in their last full game meeting on August 25,2023.

  • Opening fireworks:   Senior Caden Jacobia wasted no time, returning the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, giving New Palestine a 7–0 lead before the offense even took the field.

  • Decatur Central responded with a solid drive, with Senior Braylon Morris scoring on a 1-yard TD run to make it 7–6. Decatur missed the extra point.

  • With the clock running down at 17.1 seconds, Senior Conner Jacobia intercepted a Braylon Morris pass to set up the Dragons with nice field position for the start of Q2. That ends the first quarter with the score New Palestine 7, Decatur Central 6


Q2

  • Offensive efficiency:   On the second play, quarterback Jacob Davis connected with Mason Oglesby for a 67-yard touchdown pass, despite New Palestine running only 13 offensive plays in the first half.

  • Momentum shift:   Decatur started deep on their end and had some success moving the ball.
