Day 2 of Charlie Hughes Shootout: HSE a team to be on the lookout for the upcoming season, Luke Ertel Injury and Crown Point with two impressive wins.

Hamilton Southeastern is a Team to Watch

Bobby Allen the new coach for the HSE Program is a team to watch in the HCC this year. With Crispus Attucks being small Luke Weemer #33 and Landon Osswald #22 were big on the offensive glass. They gave the HSE offense multiple second chance points. The offense has a lot of potential with their ball movement, cutting and looking for their bigs on the post. It will be interesting to see how Coach Allen will evolve the HSE offense. HSE was very disciplined on the defense side of the ball. They were holding Crispus Attucks to one shot which would lead to a fast break. HSE defeated Crispus Attucks 68-51.

Plainfield was too much for Mt.Vernon

With the injury to Luke Ertel, Plainfield ball pressure and shooting were too much to overcome for Mt.Vernon.

Plainfield has a backcourt duo to be on the look out for in Harper Banks-Land #77 and Landon Gilliatt #13. Harper created a lot of opportunities for himself with mutiple drives to the lane with tough finishes as well as hitting 3 pointers. At the start of the 3rd quarter, Landon hit multiple 3 point shots and then in the 4th quarter he hit a deep three. Plainfield took advantage of the Luke Ertel injury and caused turnovers and made the Mt.Vernon offense hard to get open looks. Even though Noah Smith did not have a big game I can see Plainfield being one of the top teams in 4a this upcoming season.

Although Mt.Vernon lost 72-55, Elijah Parra #10 had a big day. In the 3rd and 4th quarter he would go on mini runs with multiple 3s and lay ups to try to cut the lead. Will be interesting to see how this Mt.Vernon team looks when Luke Ertel gets heathly along with the Lawrence North Transfer Jamar Thomas.

Crown Point gets Revenge against Fishers

The last time these two teams met was in the Semi-State Championship game and Fishers won by 25 points 73-48. This time it would be a different story for the Crown Point team and they beat Fishers 78-73. Dikembe Shaw #23 and Mason Darrell #10 would lead the charge in scoring for Crown Point each with 20 points. I was very impressed with Dikembe as he was able to get around the Fishers defense and score around the rim. Bryce Peters #11 and Kingston Rhodes #2 also contributed in the scoring column. Crown Point also played Lawrence North earlier in today and they defeated Lawrence North 68-58. This team has a lot of Seniors and are poised to make a deep run again in class 4A.
