Lawrence North Outlasts Pike in Overtime to Win the Marion County Tournament

Lawrence North and Pike entered the Marion County championship as the two favorites — and the title game delivered every bit of the drama you’d expect. In a matchup defined by swings of momentum, defensive grit, and clutch shot‑making, Lawrence North survived Pike’s late surge to claim the county crown in overtime.

A Tale of Two Halves for Lawrence North

The Wildcats struggled to find rhythm early. Their perimeter shooting sputtered through the first two quarters, going 2/6 from deep in the first and 1/4 in the second. Star point guard Cameron Webster was held scoreless in the entire first half, and LN trailed 28–19 at one point.

Everything flipped after halftime. Webster erupted for 18 second‑half points, and Lawrence North’s defense delivered its best stretch of the night. In the third quarter alone, LN outscored Pike 17–7, forced four turnovers, and converted those mistakes into five points. By the end of the quarter, the Wildcats had turned a nine‑point deficit into a 33–30 lead.

Role Players Step Into the Spotlight

One of the biggest questions entering the game was who would step up alongside Webster and senior forward Brennan Miller. Lawrence North got answers.

  • Davis Baker drilled a buzzer‑beater corner three to give LN a 36–33 lead heading into the fourth.

  • Duke Karnes hit timely shots throughout the night, including a corner three in the second quarter and the opening bucket of the game.

Those contributions proved essential in a game where every possession mattered.

Stars Deliver in Overtime

In the extra period, Lawrence North’s two leaders took over.

  • Brennan Miller buried a massive three to put LN ahead 49–47, then grabbed a crucial offensive rebound off a missed free throw and scored to extend the lead to 54–50.

  • Cameron Webster lived at the free‑throw line, going 7-of-8

Lawrence North Stat Leaders

  • Cameron Webster: 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists

  • Brennan Miller: 14 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals

  • Duke Karnes: 9 points

🔴 Pike’s Strong Start Derails After Injury

Pike opened the game with energy and execution, scoring 18 first‑quarter points and ending the frame on a 7–2 run powered entirely by Jahari Miller, who scored all seven points and finished the quarter with 10.

Their press defense in the fourth quarter was a game‑changer, forcing six turnovers and helping the Red Devils claw back to force overtime.

But the turning point came in the third quarter. Jahari Miller left the game with an injury and did not return, and Pike’s offense never looked the same. After leading 28–19, they managed only seven points in the third and entered the fourth trailing 33–30. In overtime, Landon Lampley fouled out on a charge, removing another key scorer. Cold shooting also hurt Pike — just 4/15 from three and 7/13 at the line.

Pike Stat Leaders

  • Landon Lampley: 17 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block

  • Jahari Miller: 12 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block

  • Ian Macon: 9 points

  • Isaiah Hill: 5 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks, 1 steal
