The buzz around the Pike Red Devils wasn’t just preseason chatter — it was a warning shot. With juniors Jahari Miller and Isaiah Hill fresh off a Nike EYBL Peach Jam championship, and the addition of the Lampley brothers this summer, Pike entered the season with expectations sky-high. Saturday night against Hamilton Southeastern, they showed exactly why.
HSE new head coach, Bobby Allen was hired in April 2025 after previously leading Guerin Catholic’s program for seven seasons compiling a 128–56 record (nearly 70% win rate). He guided the Eagles to four sectional titles, three regional championships, and a 2023 Class 3A state runner-up finish.
A Slow Burn Start
The game began like a chess match — both teams probing, neither finding the basket. It wasn’t until HSE senior Landon Osswald calmly sank a free throw with five minutes left in the first quarter that the scoreboard lit up. But once Pike found rhythm, the floodgates opened. A balanced 11-0 run capped the quarter, with contributions from Ian Macon, Landon Lampley, Tj Davis, and Isaiah Hill. HSE finishes on a high note with a block by senior Kian Kelly (See clip below). They managed just five points, struggling to crack Pike’s defensive shell.
Dunk Show in the Second
The second quarter was where Pike flexed its athleticism. A slick drop-off pass from Collin Washington set up Landon Lampley for a thunderous two-hand dunk. Moments later, Isaiah Hill turned a broken play into another rim-rattler, igniting the Red Devils’ bench. Pike stretched the lead to 24-10 before HSE clawed back with an 8-5 run, thanks to Luke Weemer, Varschon Clark, and Maverick Young. Still, Pike held a 29-18 advantage at halftime and the energy in the gym felt tilted their way.
Miller Sparks the Third
If the second quarter belonged to the dunks, the third belonged to Jahari Miller. He opened with a deep three, sparking a 12-4 run that ballooned the lead to nearly 20. HSE showed fight, putting up 14 points in the frame led by Clark (4) and Osswald (4), but Pike’s offensive rhythm was relentless. Heading into the fourth, the Red Devils were firmly in control, 48-32.
Closing Time
The fourth quarter was more of the same: Pike runs, HSE responses that never quite matched. A 9-1 burst sealed the deal, and Pike’s efficiency inside the arc (83%) made sure there was no late drama. The Red Devils finished with a 65-46 victory, a performance that felt like a statement to the rest of the state.
